Taking her clothes off!

The weekend of April 18th promised warmer temps, sunny skies and light winds. Perfect for a trip to the marina to take the cover off Golightly!

As Kelley had a show that evening and I had promised to usher, I had a small window of opportunity to beat feet to the marina, get the cover off and support frame removed, and possibly tackle an additional project (silly me).

Herself eagerly waiting to expose her decks to the sun!

The back piece of the cover partially removed exposing the 2x6 wooden frame support.

Back cover completely removed!  Time to focus on the front cover piece and dismantle the frame.

Looking forward.

Looking aft.  Just need to get her rigging back but that will have to wait a little bit.  Ran out of time!

The new bedding we get her for Christmas.  I had run out of time and needed to scoot back home but I just HAD to put the bedding on.  I'll let Kelley make the adjustments so she looks all purty!

As the aforementioned delivery trip has now been canceled, I'm planning on heading back out to the marina to finish up some pre-launch items.  With any luck, she'll be splashed the first weekend in May!

Getting ready to launch!

The intrepid crew of the sailing vessel Golightly have been hard at work the past few weekends trying to get the fair ship ready for the 2015 sailing season!

Kelley has really gotten into working on the Yanmar diesel engine and successfully crawled into the engine doghouse, hung upside down and got the stuffing box re-packed!

We then got all of the thru hulls labeled and tested the seacocks.  We seem to be in good shape.

Next up is uncovering the boat and prepping the engine (re-install impellars, change full filter, test ignition, etc.) and we'll be good to launch!  Gonna have to wait a couple weeks, though, as I'm helping a buddy bring his Carver 42 from Alabama up to Michigan!
